For most of us we have more accessories, tools, trinkets, do-dads, and widgets related to our firearms than we can likely count. We can’t bring them all to the range with us though; otherwise, the local range parking lot would look like a truck-stop with everyone pulling trailers behind them! So if you could only bring five things to the range with you aside from a firearm and some ammunition, what would they be? Here is my Top 5 Range Essentials:
Uplula™ Universal Magazine Speedloader
This specific speedloader is one of the best I’ve come across in the industry. It can seamlessly load single-stack and double-stack magazines as well as a wide range of calibers and nearly all brands! At an MSRP of $34.99, it’s a great buy and there’s no longer a need to be toting around a half-dozen speedloaders to the range.
Champion® Corded Gel Earplugs
I personally like these earplugs because they’re extremely soft and easy to insert in your ear canal. There is no rolling of earplugs, no wincing in anticipation of possible pain, and they’re corded. I might be one of the few individuals out there that doesn’t like ear muffs which is merely a personal preference of mine; still a great tool in the field. With that being said, there have been countless times I’ve dug through a range bag to only find one earplug (corded is better). Also, they’re extremely compact, the size of one cartridge that you’re probably bringing to the range, and you can’t beat the price with an MSRP of $2.49!
Lyman® Gunsmith Punch Set
A simple punch set such as this can prove to be invaluable out at the range. Similar to all of the items in my Top 5, this item is small and won’t consume your entire bag. It can be useful in a field strip of a pistol, clearing a stuck piece of brass from a chamber, and numerous other tasks you might improvise. Something simple, cheap, and basically not-extravagant like this punch set is all you need. A great buy with an MSRP of $28.50. There’s no need to spend $100.00 on a punch set unless you’re building your firearm at the actual range. You aren’t, are you?…
Hoppe’s 9®Boresnake® Viper™
These are available in a wide range of calibers, basically any caliber you could possibly own, and makes cleaning your firearm a piece of cake! While your firearm is still warm, just drop the weighted metal end of the rope into your chamber, once it comes out the end of the barrel pull it against some resistance, and let the built in brass bristles and bushy tail sweep your firearm clean! I’m not even lazy when it comes to cleaning firearms, but this does in 30 seconds to a warm firearm what can take 10 minutes to accomplish on a cold one. Most caliber Boresnakes® have an MSRP of $27.95 making it another economical tool afield.
Howard Leight®Shooting Glasses
These shooting glasses hit upon my theme of compact, simple, and affordable which is all you need out of your shooting glasses. Some people are of the mindset that you don’t need shooting glasses, but you’ll be eternally grateful if a piece of spent brass doesn’t hit your eye, lead splatter from a revolver doesn’t singe your eyebrows, or in the one-in-a-million event that your firearm fails your eyes aren’t protected because you were too cool for glasses. With an MSRP as low as $5.99 why wouldn’t you throw a pair in your range bag?
You might agree or you might disagree, but those are my Top 5 Must Have Range Essentials. Aside from the firearms you love and the ammunition that makes them go bang, tell me what are your Top 5 Range Essentials?…
One thing that might be important when filling a range bag is…. having a range bag, haha! But that could be another entire blog. There are lots of awesome range bags out there on the market and some can get pretty specialized depending on what kind of shooting you get into.

Howdy! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this website? I’m getting fed up of WordPress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m looking at options for another platform. I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
